Molly & Diesel
Molly received an Equestrian Photoshoot Gift Voucher from her Mother for Graduating in January 2023. We planned Molly’s Photoshoot with her handsome Welsh Section D Horse Diesel, in July.
Molly has had Diesel since she was 14 years old, she told me that she’d always wanted a Photoshoot with him to capture these precious memories of their time together, so that she would have something to treasure forever. I couldn’t wait to meet them both and capture their unique bond.
I arrived at Molly’s yard where she keeps Diesel on a sunny July afternoon. Diesel was glistening in the sun, bathed, groomed and Photoshoot ready, so Molly and I went for a walk to scout locations around the yard.
We began with some shots of them both in his stable doorway. I always find these are the best shots to start with as they’re relaxed and all about the connection between Horse and Rider. If you’re feeling a little nervous, it’s a great way to ease you into the Photoshoot.
We then moved out into the Paddock for some walking shots. The wind had picked up considerably and brought with it a thick cloud coverage. We made this work for the shoot though and captured some moodier windswept shots of Molly & Diesel together in the field.
We also used another Paddock which wasn’t Diesel’s usual turnout, and you can tell by his face he was picking up on the different smells in there which made us all laugh, further relaxing Molly and in turn Diesel for some beautiful shots showing their close connection.
We finished with a few shots in the school and then as it started to become quite dark and even windier, we wrapped up the shoot just before the rain started.
I had a lovely time getting to know Molly and Diesel in the run up to their Photoshoot, and then when meeting them it was a pleasure to witness their special bond and capture some memorable images that Molly can look back on forever.
